Sunday School football

Michael teaches the 15-16 year old Sunday school class at church and trying to keep them entertained can sometimes be a chore. :) It is funny because the class that he has this year is the same group of kids we taught in primary years ago and the same boys that we taught in scouts. There must be a reason we keep sticking with these kids. :) The kids get bored with the same type of teaching week after week after week and so Michael tries to mix things up and do something different with them every once in awhile to break it up. He thought it would be fun to play a football trivia game to honor the Superbowl game that is coming up. He made a football field out of a poster board and made a whole bunch of trivia questions. He had 3 or 4 different colored cards that had easy to hard questions on them with a different point value. Depending on how many points they wanted they would have to choose a color of card and if it was alot of points it was a hard question and the smaller points were pretty easy questions. Michael spent most of Saturday putting this game together because he was pretty excited about it and to do something different with the kids.
Sunday rolled around and we went to class and waited and waited and waited. FINALLY one of the boys came in but no one else. I kept asking Michael what he was going to do if we only had 1 boy show up. I mean after all it would be just our luck that only one kid would show up because of what we had planned. :) Finally after a little bit 3 more boys came in so we had a total of 4 boys. I think the boys were pretty excited to play because if they won they got to have a big candy bar. We know how to work it - we bribe them with candy and they will just about do anything. Ha ha! It was amazing to me that they could answer some of the hard questions so easily without having to look it up, but when it came to an easy/simple question they couldn't answer it. It kinda made me laugh. Well as we were playing the game the boys got louder and louder and louder. We had to keep reminding them of where we were and that we needed to be reverent. I guess we all get a little excited sometimes. These boys are alot of fun to teach and we had a great time on Sunday teaching them.
Now we just have to think of something fun for this next week. :) We just want to make coming to church and learning enjoyable for everyone!
