They took us to the New King Kong ride. That was a way fun ride! They take you in the sound booth and both sides of the booth are covered in screens and there is a 3D movie that they showed. You felt like you were in the middle of King Kong's battle with some Dinosaurs. It was so cool They way they moved the screams made it feel like the cart that we were on was being picked up by King Kong. It was so cool. I love how 3D works - it makes it seem so real.
They had a crushed cart to look like King Kong had crushed the cart. They just made it so life like.
They drove us past a section of cars that are used in a bunch of movies. It was like a famous car section. It was pretty cool. I am not that great with remembering movies, but when I see a car or something I will recognize the car, but I won't be able to tell what movie it was from. These were just a few of the cars that we saw along the way.
They of course took us up to see where they filmed "Psycho". Because we were there during the holiday season they had an actor out there playing Norman Bates. That was the highlight for Michael on the Tram Ride. Nothing like seeing Norman Bates carrying out a dead body to his car just outside the Bates Motel.
During Halloween Universal has Haunted houses all around at night. We didn't stay for the Haunted houses at night because we didn't want to pay the extra $60.00 a person for the ticket. But it was fun seeing the decorations set up for the Haunting's. They had all kinds of skins thrown over walls and areas. I bet they put on a fantastic Hollywood Horror Nights. They have all the great props to make it pretty scary.
They also drove us through the War of the Worlds set. That was pretty cool. It was so real looking.
They took us through all kinds of streets showing where TV shows are produced like Desperate Housewives. They also took us through the streets to show where Back to the Future and Spartacus were filmed. They had a Western street where alot of westerns are filmed. There are just numerous streets and buildings where movies are filmed. It's just really fun to see how the movies are filmed and where they are filmed. It is so crazy how they have a miniature building or set that they use to blow up with big screens to make it look life like. It is so amazing what our technology can do.
Of course we had to see the Jaws set - that is one of the most famous sets that they have. We also go to see where they filmed the 10 commandments and where the water parts. It is just so cool. There was this cute little Asian boy sitting by my mom on the tram ride. When we were at the Jaws set mom my kept telling the little boy, are you ready his is coming, he is coming. Jaws comes up out of water and spits some water and my mom starts screaming. The little boy was just looking at her like she was crazy. It was so funny. Like I said we just can't take her anywhere.
These were our favorite parts of the tram ride. There was alot of other things that they showed, but these were out favorites!
